Tourism is a norm in Belize because of its wide variety of diversity not only in the people, but in the land. Most attractions that are seen here are those in the reefs such as divers, or those who wish to study the unique marine life. There are many Maya temples that are still standing today which are also a tourist attraction, the influence that the environment had on the Maya is clear through the format of their carvings. The religion clearly had part in their surroundings and would worship and use the environment as a connection.
Environmental issues that pertain to Belize is that of deforestation, runoff of waste into water, rapid coastal development. The
deforestation of this country is something that is trying to be prevented yet is still affecting them with the increase in population that has started to occur. Waste is usually not properly disposed of and has started to harm the marine life of Belize; this is because there are not many other ways to be rid of waste. The different weathers that are seen in Belize are what have caused the rapid coastal development, and there is not anything that can be done about this factor.
